Time Management Tips
Not enough time in the day? Here are some great time management tips.
I’ve read a handful of time management books lately due to being swamped with what I call internet marketing burnout. Many of these books that I have read make time management tips even more complicated and you end up needing to remember all of these crazy ideas which you will never implement.
Until…..
I recently came across some great time management tips.
I picked up a copy of Chet Holmes’ book “The Ultimate Sales Machine”
Here is how I am going to manage my time on a daily basis from now on.
6 Easy Steps to Time Management
1. Touch it once
Successful People don’t put decisions off. If there is something on your desk, make the call and be done with it. Don’t read it halfway, then check your e-mail, and then go back to reading it. This will kill productivity.
2. Make Daily Lists of the six most important tasks you need to complete
This says it all. Simply make a list of 6 things you need to get done.
3. Plan how long each task will take
Some tasks can be done quickly, others not so much. Allot time for each task and if it can’t be finished, do a little each day.
4. Assign time slots for accomplishing each task
Make sure you schedule this in you daily planner in the appropriate time slots
5. Focus on the difficult projects first
Knock out the tough ones first, and you will feel accomplished at the end of the day. If you don’t do this, you will most likely not do the hardest task at the end of the day because it’s 4pm and you tell yourself it can wait until tomorrow since you don’t have any more energy.
6. Ask yourself, “Will it hurt me to throw this away?”
Get good at answering this question so you can get rid of things on your desk if they are wasting your time.
There you have it, plan each day like this and you should be much more productive.
However, I would add one more to this list.
7. Check your e-mail and social media only 2 times a day. Once in the morning and once at the end of the day and allot only about 30 minutes for this.
Now get more done in less time!
